It rained and poured and the river flooded - but we had an awesome time! Stayed in the budget cabin - as we had a dog - which was old school and basic. Everything is clean and tidy, toilets and shower looked new and were clean. Beautiful spot, we walked over the bridge to the more upmarket site both days and had a great spa. Made friends with our neighbours and joined them for drinks both nights. All in all a great place! Will be back again soon!
Fantastic river views, super friendly staff, very clean and wonderfully kept grounds. After playing in the river the pizza and beer at the cafe went down a treat! Thank you Awastone, you made our family trip super special, your awesome
I decided last minute to drive north from Wellington and to be fair I didn’t think anyone would answer the phone when I called just after 7pm. Paul was great and went out of his way to ensure I had a cabin for the night. It was welcoming to arrive and the lights for the cabin were on and it made it easy for me to spot. The cabin itself is basic but that’s all you need, I didn’t expect a kitchenette so that’s a bonus. For the price it’s good value. Phone reception is surprisingly good which means I can work in the morning from here before setting off. I recommend staying here if you want to break up your trip heading north or south.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Awastone. We had a beautiful spot for our tent, the facilities were clean, and I really enjoyed the food at the licensed cafe, which meant no cooking for me at nighttime real holiday. The staff, especially Cesar and his girlfriend were amazing and super friendly. We paddle down the river and it is great the Awastone offers a shuttle service which we used. Really really happy with everything and we definitely will be back soon.
A big shout out to Awastone. What an awesome place, in every which way. My 2nd stay there, at the end of March .This time I took a friend, as I was so impressed after my initial stay in Jan. Just beautiful, the surroundings, the white papa cliffs ,the natural bush and the accommodation, Tui Flight room simply superb. Friendly staff an lovely food too: Fiona
Fantastic place to be. My fourth time and always a highlight of a road trip. Staff, comfortable clean rooms, atmosphere and scenery come together for an all round experience.
Is there of the best campgrounds I’ve ever been to as their staff or truly makes it a pleasure to stay here. I have to give a shout out to Paul Mia, and the housekeeping staff as the room that I got tui was amazing. we even came back a week later to stay again for four more days and I can’t give enough amazing praise to this place. They even have a hot tub you can rent for the night which is lovely and gives a great view of the mountain side, reasonable prices, and they have everything you need.
Came here for a drink and spa. Really good service. Only thing I will say is the spa needs a bit more privacy screen and a bit of a refresh in the area. But for the price I can't complain too muchService: 5/5
We rode our motorcycles from as far as Lower Hutt to check out the camp grounds we will be staying at in March and to have lunch, great service with a great sense of humor. The locations scenery is absolutely stunning! Definitely will be back
Our family was fortunate to win a giveaway to Awastone, which granted us a night's stay at the Pukeko Palace and a one hour rafting excursion called "Splash n Giggle." The experience was truly remarkable! The family-oriented lodging featured comfortable beds with quality bedding, a kitchenette, and a shower and toilet. We had ample space outside to enjoy playing soccer and rugby while catching a glimpse of Ruru's Moreporks during our game of spotlight. We appreciated being able to go on a nearby bush walk and throw rocks into the river. The café, restaurant, and bar exceeded our expectations! The staff were exceptionally friendly, and the food was delicious and affordable. We were even loaned a game of "cornhole" so the kids could stay entertained after dinner while we relaxed and enjoyed our meal and drinks. The rafting trip was a highlight of our stay! The kids couldn't stop grinning, and our guide was both experienced and knowledgeable. We'll cherish the memories of this exceptional experience at such a magical location. Thank you!
