The place is rundown and poorly maintained, similar to dilapidated trailer parks in the U.S. It seems to mostly house the homeless. It is not a place I would recommend to anyone, domestic or international, especially if safety and basic standards are a concern. Look at my photos if you don’t believe me!
I called Avondale motor Park 15+ times no answer then when u showed up I called again without the manager knowing and I asked him does your phone number work he said “ohh I don’t,yes it should be working” and also the state of the people living there it’s sad it’s heartbreaking seeing people living like that and also anonymously got told that they are selling the outta area to Akl council but not letting the tenants know
*Please read before booking!!* If I could rate them no stars then I absolutely would. I had trouble trying to contact them after I had made my booking as I wanted to confirm if I was able to check in late. I rang 10+ times throughout the day before and the day of, with my partner also trying to reach them at different times as well. The phone number provided would just ring and ring and no-one ever answered. I also tried to email using the email address that was provided and it bounced back. I eventually contacted the third party that I had used to make the booking who assured me that they would contact them and confirm a late check in. I received an email stating that they had contacted Avondale Motor Park and confirmed a late check in. Upon arrival1 hour after usual check in time we noticed that the office was dark and had a closed sign up. The place itself wasn’t very nice, there was also an old mattress and fridge push up against the fence by the reception. I double checked my emails to see if I had any communication about how to check in late or what room we were in. There wasn’t any. There wasn’t any note or direction left behind for us and there was nobody in the office. I tried calling multiple times but no-one answered which was no surprise. I called the third party who also tried to contact the property and had no luck. I did try to do a lap of the place to see if we could maybe spot our room or if there was a note that was left for us. The whole camp didn’t look very clean or safe, the residents who live there were quite intimidating. I was also greeted by a drunk man who was lurking around the corner of the reception and was in the dark drinking beer. He tried to convince me to follow himwalkingand leave my car, asking if I had locked everything up etc. I refused and went back to my car and promptly left. Leaving 3 adults and 2 children without accommodation for the night as the only other available accommodation in the area was $900 for the night! Awful service, if you can even call it that considering there was no service! The camp itself was quite dirty looking and the residents weren’t nice at all. If you have children I would definitely not recommend this place as it didn’t feel very safe either especially with drunk residents lurking around. I don’t think that I would even trust my belongings to be left there if I wasn’t there. Such an awful place offering an awful experience!
PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE STAYING HERE! we booked this hostel and it was the worst experience of the whole trip. there was a domestic fight where the man was shouting for 30' at a woman and there was a man who tried to enter the caravan by forcing the door with only a girl inside. when leaving the bathrooms there were drug addicts sleeping in the bathroom and in the kitchen. the police had to come. super dangerous to stay here. disgustingly dirty bathrooms full of cobwebs.
Please read before booking!! This place is disgusting, please know we do not come from a fortunate background, we do not expect much. I work in customer service and I was appalled with how many health and safety laws were broken. I will be contacting the health and safety board. We paid $120 for one night, and we’re asked to provide our own bedding. The bed sheet that they provided was not washed and had bugs flying all around it. Our room smelt like fresh human feces and was damp. We are both seriously sick after one night here. The SHARED toilets were not clean. We did not feel safe here at all and if we had gas, would have driven three hours home. Our door only locked from the inside, if at all. I am not a negative person but I cannot think of one positive from our stay.
