As a current student at Auckland University of Technology AUT, my experience here has been a mix of positives and negatives. Pros: - Practical Learning: AUT excels in providing a practical and industry-aligned education. The focus on hands-on learning and real-world applications has been incredibly beneficial. - Support Services: The university offers excellent support services, including academic advising, career counselling, and mental health resources. The staff is approachable and genuinely cares about student well-being. Cons: - Campus Size: The City Campus is quite small and doesn’t provide the traditional university vibe that I was looking for. It feels more like a large high school than a university, and this has been a significant disappointment for me. - Reputation: Although AUT has many strengths, it sometimes feels overshadowed by other universities in New Zealand. This perception can impact how the degree is viewed in certain circles.
Great studying environment and the atmosphere on orientation day was awesome. A warm welcome back to formal study for me after an absence of 30 years.
Good university with lots of facilities, but the screen which assists you does not show you your current location in the instances you need to look for a certain building.
I graduated from AUT some time ago, and my bachelor's degree certificate had been misplaced, so I needed to print a new one within 6 weeks, and the website stated that reprinting could take 6 weeks. I contacted the Aut graduation department but did not hear back from them for a week, so I emailed every possible help to other departments but received no response. I finally heard from them after two weeks with the form I needed to fill out. I filled out the form right away and sent but still required invoice for payment from them, but I heard nothing from them after three days, and I've now wasted nearly three weeks. I actually don’t know when I will hear from them. I find the entire process out of touch, with no system in place. They communication is so slow that I may not be able to submit all of the documents required for my Masters study abroad. For example University of Auckland, a neighboring university, had the form on their website and stated that it could take up to two weeks. In comparison to deal with other universities, I found AUT to be the most useless in terms of getting documentation, and it's unfortunate that you can't get any help even if you're in desperate need.
The city campus is very modern with good infrastructure. It's right in the heart of the CBD area. AUT is a very good university to study at.
AUT accepted me as mature working student. The student academic and personal support, career pathway development and tertiary education materials were exceptional.
The university supported the endeavors of various secondary schools. One such program running at the time was the Young Enterprise Scheme wherein students pitch brilliant ideas which have the potential to be future businesses
Great university with a good campus
Been there for 1 semster study abroad, had some awesome classes about maori language and culture. Thanks for the lessons, feeling home, for the whanau and everything!
I studied here for one year. The papers were practical and interesting. In addition, lecturers were always willing to help when I reached out to them. Great experience!
