Auckland Scenic Tours

We had such an amazing experience. The day started off great with our driver Mike picking us up right outside our door at 6:05 AM exactly when he said he would. He greeted us, correctly guessed where we were from based on my accent and had fun with us which was nice considering how early it was and we were tired and trying to get going.nnWe picked a few more people up and then had a beautiful drive to the Hobbiton film tour location. Mike explained so much about New Zealand to us on the way there which made the 2 hour trip feel short.nnWhen we arrived at the Hobbiton set early, Mike was able to get us on an earlier tour which gave us just enough time to eat a delicious breakfast and get some items from the gift shop. The tour is another bus and guided by the Hobbiton tour group. It's a great 1 hour or so tour where you get to see everything from the movies, take lots of photos and learn about behind the scenes things. I've wanted to see this since I saw the movies when they came out in the theaters and it didn't disappoint. It's even more beautiful than the movies. We ended in the Green Dragon Tavern and then met back up with Mike to head back to the bus. There is a good bit of walking so I wouldn't recommend taking small kids on this.nnWe then made about an hour drive to a great little lunch place where Mike bought our lunch. We got one Savory item meat pie, sandwich, etc. a sweet item pie, cake, etc. and a drink. It was more than enough food for the rest of the trip.nnAnother short drive to the caves where Mike took us to the local guide and he took us through the caves. I was not expecting this to be as cool as it was. Our guide was really fantastic and the caves are very unique. It takes about 45 minutes or so to go through there.nnWe met back up with Mike and he drove us home about 2 hours or so. We saw more new things and beautiful scenery. Mike explained more and entertained us so the drive didn't feel long at all.nnI can't recommend this enough. Just the drive there is worth the money. I was really only expecting the Hobbit tour to be the highlight but the entire experience was fantastic. Thanks Mike for making it great for my family.

Matt was an excellent guide! We did the Hobbiton + Glowworm tour and he was so knowledgeable about this to get the most out of our tours. I will be recommending this company, specifically Matt, to anyone who asks for a fun, engaging, professional! Please give him a raise!!

Loved the tour to Hobbiton & Waitomo Glow Worm Cave. Our tour guide Mr.Mike was amazing throughout the journey. He explained and communicated well and made sure all of us were comfortable and having a good time. Very memorable day and thanks Auckland Scenic Tours for arranging this.

I did the 8 hour Auckland tour. It was fabulous. I was having trouble booking online because I was a solo. Traveler and I rang and spoke to David the owner of the company and he happily got me onto the tour of the next day. Danny was our driver, and he was fantastic very knowledgeable of the area and good fun. the tour included all the sites of Auckland as well as a wine, tasting at one of the local wineries and then lunch at the historic Riverhead hotel. it also included some World War II tunnels and guns up on the headlands. it was really a wonderful day. I would highly recommend doing the tour, especially if you’re short on time in Auckland.

Our Hobbiton tour was made even more special by our guide's kindness and attention to detail. He took the time to memorize our names, which made us feel valued and appreciated. Every penny is worth it for an unforgettable experience.
