An interesting experience. Close encounters of modern medical technology and new medicine. Highly professional and efficient staff. The only down side is casual parking.
Great experience. I felt healthier leaving after a week of nurses looking after us. Takes less time to get use to the surroundings and everything than anticipated. Could do with better ventilation in the toilets, but thankfully it's not like a backpackers hostel either. Staff are really good.
I'm sure for a lot of users, this is a wonderful place. But as a first time and occasional visitor, my experience wasn't too smooth. Parking is a major problem as there's none on site and very limited pay parking nearby, the ground floor reception is not obvious and you have to press the button to get into the door, I used the toilet once and wished it ventilate better. Anyway, my short staying was quite pleasant and efficient, everyone was happy and helpful.
Just finished my first clinical trials. Nurses and study doctors were all professionals, friendly and easy to approach, they will answer all of your questions so you'll feel comfortable and know what you'll be taking and what to expect. Wifi is good, food isn't bad, there is a pool table, books, tv to pass the time. Bring your own laptop if you dont want to get bored.
About to be discharged from my first trial after a 6 night inpatient stay. It has been an incredible experience. The staff are very professional and friendly, they were very helpful toward me as before this experience I was quite uncomfortable with having blood taken I feel much more comfortable with that now!. Would recommend it to anyone who is curious :
Currently doing my second trial. Almost everything is great but I have one suggestion. A regular lights out time would be nice. It seems night shift staff turn the lights off at random times. Sometimes it's 10:30 other times it's midnight and they have to be reminded by a study participant that people actually want to sleep, which is pretty damn hard when there are bright lights on directly above your bed. Maybe a little reminder wouldn't be a bad idea?
Love this place, the nurses and Dr's a soo kool!! The foods pretty good to I have to say!!
I have participated in 5 studies so far – I like that I am contributing to the development of new cures that could potentially save or improve the quality of life for others. ACS is so welcoming and relaxing. The facilities, staff and meals are amazing and I always enjoy staying there. I am looking forward to my next one.
Participated in an in house study which was 4 nights in house and 3 months of visits, over all I never had any issues through out. The initial consultation is quite a lengthy process but I understand the need for it to be so precise. I unfortunately saw a lot of upset people being turned down due to various reasons, but again, this is a study, not to be treated as a job application. Try and set expectations before you go in. Staff: most were lovely, professional and great conversation. The ones that weren’t were just disinterested in what they were doing, but still remained professional. Facilities: you just have to remember that this is a study at a medical premise, not hotel accommodation, if you keep that in mind you’ll be alright. The place was spotlessly clean with curtain privacy. Meals were great, better than I would cook for myself at home. Be prepared to commit to as much of the study as possible, as long as you do and follow the guidelines it’s honestly smooth sailing.
I have partcipated in several medical trials over the past few years at ACS and I have always been impressed with their friendliness and professionalism . Everything is always clearly explained and they will answer all questions. I have always felt safe and comfortable with my in-patient stays at the unit. While staying at the unit, participants get to rest, eat well and relax.
