The sheer size of this botanical garden was a pleasant surprise. There are beautifully coordinated sections that catch the eye, along with scattered sculptures that blend seamlessly into the surroundings. However, I wish there were more shaded areas along the walking tracks, as the heat and humidity can make exploring the garden quite challenging on a warm day. Additionally, the café closes quite early, leaving us longing for a refreshing iced drink after the walk.
Massive, spacious, beautiful and educational. This garden is an amazing place to take a long hike, a quick stroll, or to have an outing with friends or family. The aesthetics are beautiful and the sculpture exhibitions are breathtaking. I loved the variety in the plantations and the natural variation of plants from different climes and continents.nThere are places to buy food, benches to sit on, fields to have a picnic spread and public toilets.nThe fact that entry is free is a lifesaver and the garden with all its interesting winding trails is really spectacular. Only issue is how easy it is to get lost because of its sheer size!
I was truly amazed by the breathtaking beauty that surrounded me. The landscape was stunning, with perfectly manicured lawns, winding pathways, and lush greenery everywhere. The flowers, in particular, were a feast for the eyes—each blossom seemed to tell its own unique story through vibrant colors and delicate petals. I was especially struck by the diversity of the trees; some were towering giants, while others were elegantly twisted, each one contributing to the overall sense of tranquility and wonder.
Auckland Botanic Gardens is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy nature. The vast greenery and wide variety of plants make it a refreshing escape from the city. Each plant is carefully labeled, allowing visitors to learn more about the different species on display. The gardens are full of colorful flowers, which make it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts to capture some beautiful shots. There’s always something new to discover as you explore the grounds.nnThe layout of the gardens is spacious, with plenty of walking paths, making it ideal for those living nearby to take morning or evening walks or jogs. There’s even a small, likely man-made, lake with lots of ducks swimming around, adding a peaceful charm to the environment. The cute walking bridge over the lake is a lovely spot to stop and take in the view.nnWhile the gardens offer ample parking space, it’s worth noting that parking can become a bit tight during peak times, especially on weekends. However, the overall experience more than makes up for it. Auckland Botanic Gardens is truly a wonderful place to visit, whether you’re looking to unwind, exercise, or simply enjoy the beauty of nature. Highly recommended for both locals and tourists alike!
Very well maintained and mid-sized gardens. We visited most of the gardens, except the Palms and African trees. It was unfortunate that some of the flowers werent blooming due to the season, such as Hydrangea in summer. Otherwise, there was a huge variety of species and some that is unique to Auckland! Also is good for picnic during summer and family-friendly!
