So impressed at how accessible this art gallery is. It's free to visit unless you want to see a special exhibition which requires a ticket. They conduct free tours starting at 1:30pm on weekdays. They have a great creative learning centre and offer kids programming on the weekend.
I come here often. This is an amazing place where the building is it's own work of art. There is a range of art on display, including significant New Zealand artists. Thanks to the recently donated Robertson gift, there is now significant artworks from artists such as Picasso, Monet and Dali, free to see. Most of the gallery is free, but there are sometimes exhibitions that cost $20 or so. They keep their website up to date if you'd like to see what's on or coming up. There is an art area for children, cafe, and a gift shop. There is also a research library if you'd like to learn more about an artist. There are free guided tours at certain times.
The art gallery is a welcoming place close to the Auckland CBD. Spacious galleries provide an ample opportunity for exhibition of it's collections. Current displays cover both home and European works. The paintings of the Robertson Collection span early twentieth century works and cover a time of artistic discovery
