This is a lovely era- hotel. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, and the shared areas are great. Superb location - walking distance to great restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Parking is down the road but really no hassle but it’s only free if you book direct! The restaurant/bar was a bit of a let down. The staff are pleasant but not engaging and service is ok but could easily be improved. Walkability: Close proximity to bars, restaurants and shops. Food & drinks: Menu is ok, service average
My husband and I stayed in an Art Deco Studio for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were allocated a room with access to the courtyard/balcony as requested. Lovely hotel with interesting features. There are 2 eateries attached to the hotel - K Kitchen and The Rose, and we had good meals in both of these. The Reception staff were pleasant and helpful, giving suggestions for local cafes where we could have breakfast. Car parking was available a short walk from the hotel, although we were able to park directly outside to unload and load luggage.
We had an excellent two night stay at the Masonic Hotel, it really did feel like stepping back in time. The decor throughout is superb with meticulous attention to detail. The reception area, corridors and public areas are stylish and true to the period and our room, though not large was beautifully decorated, even the bathroom though modern with a roomy shower was in keeping. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We loved the adjoining bar areas and particularly enjoyed the terrace looking out onto the sea, - what a fabulous place to sit and soak up the atmosphere of Napier. The location is perfect with all the attractions of Napier within easy walking distance. This was a truly unique place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Food & drinks: The K Kitchen Bar adjoining the hotel was a great place to eat with an outdoor terrace, good food and good value. Superb interior decor and furniture, we spent ages wandering around admiring everything.
We enjoyed our stay at the Art Deco Masonic Hotel. We booked the King Studio Suite at a very reasonable rate. The bathroom and suite was very clean and the room was spacious. The hotel was quiet and the roof top terrace was a lovely space to sit and relax. We will definitely be back!Rooms: 4/5
My husband and I had a great stay here! This hotel is lovely, charming, and unique. I especially enjoyed the large terrace outside the room, overlooking Marine Parade. Gorgeous views and a calming, relaxing atmosphere. Our room was clean and spacious, with a nice comfy bed! The hotel staff we interacted with were very friendly and courteous. The hotel is also conveniently located to many area attractions and is a great base for exploring the area.
Had an excellent 2 night stay recently. Great location. One small issue was the shower over the bath, hard to access. The staff at reception, Roses Bar and the main bar were excellent. We had 2 meals in the main lounge which were very good and once again great staff. We will be back. Thanks Art Deco Masonic Hotel. Rooms: Very neat and tidy but struggled with the shower which was over the bath Food & drinks: Excellent
We came in from Texas, USA. I love this hotel. It has an earlier era with lots of wood, antique brass hardware on doors and windows, modern bathroom, and great bedding. It is worth mentioning, check out time is a little bit earlier than we're used to, but it didn't really matter because our flight out dictated our checkout time. I would definitely come back to stay here and. And recommend it. Rooms: Very homey and quaint. Nearby activities: The beach is up the street. Restaurants all around. Safety: Feels safe. Walkability: The beach is up the street. Restaurants all around.
We had a lovely stay in this beautiful Art Deco hotel. The decor was really beautifully done and down to detail. Although our room wasn’t very big it was beautiful and had all we needed except maybe a mini bar. I also missed more hangers for clothes and a small make-up/shaving mirror with a turning ”arm” over the wash basin. Now the only mirror was awkwardly on the side because of the window which as such was nice and necessary. The beautiful mirror in the room was too dark for make-up and impossible for shawing. The door to the inner court was a lovely surprise and it was so nice to sit on the sofa with a morning coffee or sip a glass of wine. Parking was a bit tricky despite the good advice from the reception. Overall service was good and very friendly. We also dined in the beautiful downstairs restaurant and found food very tasty. Well done, thank you!
Old historic hotel with some lovely architectural features. Car parking is a block away and depending on how you have booked your stay, this could be included or an extra cost. There is a loading bay for 2/3 cars outside the entrance so you can unload your luggage before moving your car. The main entrance, though, is only accessed by stairs. I presume if you have mobility issues or can’t lift your luggage, you would need to enter via the bar/restaurant. The hotel is well positioned in the heart of the town and on the seafront and there is nice shared balcony at the front overlooking the sea. Our room was a decent size although it was a little tight for the luggage. It was also overlooking some bars, which mean’t that it was a bit noisy in the early evening with some loud music being played, however, this had ended by 10pm so didn’t disturb our sleep.
Smack bang in the middle of town, close to shops, restaurant and in front of the sea. Easy walk for most places and taxis are available quickly. The rooms are suitable to couples at the most, not third person possible at all but keep up with the art deco theme of the town. It was a pleasant visit.Rooms: 4/5
