Story

The Arapuni Suspension Bridge is located just downstream from the Arapuni Power Station on the Waikato River in the South Waikato District of New Zealand. The 152-metre suspension bridge in the bush-lined gorge was built in the mid-1920s to allow workers from the village of Arapuni to access the power station construction site.

Loved it. The information boards are quite useful and give a better insight into the history. The grounds are well kept.
I really cannot think of anything great to say about it. It's just an old suspension bridge built over a dam. It's got a green away. You might enjoy it more if you came with your bicycle to ride around the dam.
Bridge and power station with an interesting history. Good view of the Power Station and river from bridge.
Photos don't do it justice. You have got to experience this. Highly recommended
Stunning view from the top. This 152m long bridge was built in mid 1920s. It's an local icon now attracting visitor from near and far. There is stunning view from the top for both sides. We ride a bicycle on it. It was OK if you don't look down.
My mum grew up in Arapuni, my grandad Eric Flavell worked at the power station there, I visit there often, mainly due to my grandad, nana, mum and her only brother Eric have all passed on, plus it's quiet, peaceful, beautiful and clears the mind.
Great place to visit on the way to sanctuary mountain!
Always a great place to visit, & always enthralling for visitors seeking thrill of sound, colour & history of dam, & Arapuni. Bike & walking trails a bonus.
