The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The resort advertises a basic grocery, however it stocked one tin of baked beans, one tin of spaghetti, some dehydrated camping meals, and crisps. Bring all food with you as the cafe and restaurant are very expensive.nMaintenance on the units is poor. We reported broken and missing light bulbs, toilet roll holder falling off, broken spout on the kitchen tap, and a broken garden bench.nnThe local walks are fantastic. Well maintained tracks and spectacular scenery.
We haven't stayed in the hotel but had a coffee in the cafe which was delicious. Visited the info centre in the village where is a museum located as well. Very informative and nicely presented! The whole village has beautiful views and its the starting point for your day when you are coming to do some walks or hikes. Staff in the info centre is very helful too.
Beautiful place with a fantastic scenery! You should definitely check out the DOC tourist visitor centre. The best walk to do here is the one to the Mueller Hut, which has some stunning views when you walk up the mountain. It's possible to do it in 6 hours return, but the track is recommended for people with a good fitness and some experience with tramping.
Cross between a luxury hotel and comfy alpine lodge. Room had large picture window fronting Mount Cook and large bed with warm comforter. Modern and well-appointed bathrooms.nThe public spaces include not only a bar and restaurant, but a museum Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center and a planetarium.nActivities include boating an a glacier lake where you can scoop up mini-icebergs or heli-ski or nightine stargazing.nWe only regret we stayed for one night. This is a great place to relax for a long weekend or a full week.
It's once in a lifetime experience to visit such a tranquilizing place. Not much of population and remote. Beautiful landscape. Quiet and blissful place. You got everything here. Bush walk, treks, scenic flight and helicopter tour of glaciers, glacier lakes, rivers and mountain peaks covered in snow. It's simply mesmerising place.
