I completed an ASC with Alpine Guides in April. Our guides Dave and Pablo were exceptional, teaching us all loads, ensuring we had fun and keeping us safe. The weather was far from perfect but Dave and Pablo were able to adapt quickly and make the most of the conditions we had both on the glacier and in the village, and despite their vast experience were always welcoming of questions and willing to show us even the most basic things. I’ve come away with a much broader skill set and greater confidence in the mountains. I would definitely recommend Alpine Guides and their Alpine Skills Course.
Alpine Guides were fantastic! I loved the immediate and hands-on approach to learning. We had 3 bluebird days at the top of the Tasman Glacier, climbed a summit, did ice climbing, and plenty of glacier travel. I had a wonderful time, making good friends along the way. Thank you Alpine Guides!
Alpine Guides was simply amazing from start to finish. In order: Prompt, efficient replies to any and all communication. Ease of payments. Fantastic pre-course notes, manual, and packing list. Our guide, Gary Dickson, was amazing, as were any other AG guides we met along the way. Great balance between teaching anything required while balancing the need for safety with not being boring or too stern. Despite the weather not being great for a few days it was more than made up for with excellent education and skills practice in the village to make sure that when we hit the mountain we were ready to go. Meals provided were great. Ample food to fuel staying active during the days. We're back in Australia and already planning our next trip back! Thanks again to AG and Gary for an amazing trip!
Alpine Guides are the best. Ive been over to MT COOK from Australia for 3 trips with Alpine Guides. 1 Alpine skills course and 2 private guiding trips. I'm planning on doing their MT Aspiring trip later this year. I can't wait. Ive recommended to my friends that they go with Alpine Guides.
My partner and I did the Tasman Glacier Ice Trek and had a phenomenal full day everyon experience with Alpine Guides. We went out with Scott and Sam who were knowledgable, helpful, professional, and fun to spend the day with! We took an insanely scenic helicopter ride out to the glacier to start. Though neither of us had ever done ice climbing, we asked if this could be included in our day, and our guides made it happen. They set up all our equipment, gave us a quick demo on climbing, and we were off! We were even treated to hot chocolate between climbs. After climbing, we hiked on the glacier a bit and got to explore an ice cave, which was beautiful. We caught our flight out and took the “scenic route,” which included a fly-by of an upper section of glacier — truly spectacular! Though the cost of the trip was a bit of a splurge, they made it worth every penny. Scott took photos along the way and sent them to us at the end — so we have a few extra mementos to take home! We would highly recommend Alpine Guides for a glacier experience!
It was an unforgettable experience. I did a 7 days training with Pablo. He is very professional, well experienced, patient and a great mountaineer. It was more than I was expecting and I really enjoyed my time. Back at the office, everyone was very helpful and welcoming. two thumbs up
This company and the people involved run an amazing program, I've just completed their alpine skills course and can't fault it, so much so that I'm already signing up for another course with them
I followed the ASC course with Alpine Guides and i just had an awesome time with them. Everything is verywell organised. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly trained guides which take very good care of you. Although the course was a bit above my level the guide had a lot of patience with me and i have learned a lot. I definitely recommend them for any mountain related activity.
Had a great time on the mountain experience course with guide Dave and Stella last month. The 5 day course itinerary had to be changed completely due to the weather but WOW it was definitely a mountain experience. Would recommend the course to anyone who wanted to get some more alpine experience and learn how to step up from tramping. Dave was amazing, very inspiring. Gave me lots of advice in order to plan my next adventure.
We had an incredible experience climbing Mt Sebastapol, led by the excellent guide Scott. The route was at the limit of what we were capable of as a group, but Scott ensured we were entirely safe at every point. He was a knowledgeable and interesting guide, and the entire expeirence with Alpine Guides was positive, from the sandwich options to the views to the chat
