The 3 course meal was one of the best I've had in a while. The lamb rump was complemented perfectly by the sun setting over the sea. Great food and great view. The owner was there greeting and talking with dinners, truly engaged, and making sure everyone was happy. Entree, main and dessert $45 a bargain as well. The fact it was busy on a Monday night says it all. Keep it up.
Way overpriced, and very small disappointing meal sizes. Spent $19.50 on smashed avocado and eggs which I was quite looking forward to, normally spend that much on a dish like that but I’ve never been so heartbroken to see such a small portion size when it arrived. Was half the size of what I was expecting. A thin small piece of sourdough, and a sadly very small amount of sludgy mushy avocado. The eggs were nicely poached though, and tasted fresh. Muffin was stodgy and chewy clearly microwaved coffee took 20 minutes to Come out and tasted like it had come from a machine not a barista. I liked that they roast their own coffee beans but to be honest, I don’t think we will be returning. Prices are wrong and food quality low. Photos with hand for size reference.
Great location near the beach and great views of Rangitoto. On a sunny day you can enjoy sun in the afternoon. The food was ok but the portions were very small for the price and the drink wasn't anything special. The service wasn't very good as our waitress was not friendly at all. The 3 stars are mostly because of the location.Food: 2/5
So sad to give an average review. I used to LOOOVE this place and thought it was the best place for steak and the risotto duck had made me love duck and enjoy eating rice which I usually dislike.. We got a grab one and sadly we were let down. Despite being a deal and voucher I feel it's still unfair we lack options such as pork belly bao only given option of chicken bao With this chicken bao it was basic. No fresh greeneey like sliced spring onions or fresh coriander which was missed in my opinion. Chicken was also dry. Chowder for our 2nd entree was bland and lacked seasoning. I got one small cube of fish in the entire dish. Sadly this is probably due to being on a grab one voucher booking but this is unfair as we still paid a decent amount of money for said voucher. Small as it was, it was cooked beautifully so wished there was more pieces i could have at least given to partner to try. Mains DUCK risotto with truffle. This as mentioned used to be my absolute fav dish it was just divine and always ate it to the last grain of rice. Sadly tonight I didnt even finish it. I know risotto is cooked al dente & to still have a bit of bite or nice chew but this was for sure undercooked and a bit grainy. It was very unpleasant. Also I didnt notice the truffle flavors I long for. It didnt seem to have been cooked with seasoning again and even when seasoning myself it still tasted bland. I wonder if there was parmesan stirred through at the final stages or what sort of quality stock was used when cooking this as I cant understand how it can be this bland.. Duck was cooked nicely. LAMB my partner was extremely disappointed and didnt even eat half of his meal. It was dry and boring. Lacked any sort of interesting element to make you want to eat another bite. DESSERT creme brulee was fine, didnt pick up on baileys aspect? Biscotti on top was not hard it was soft as not what I have experienced a biscotti to be. Hard dry crisp with plenty of crunch is what I've always had. These ones were opposite? Were they baked 2x? Bread and butter pudding was just awful. Sickly and basically worse than an aunt Betty's frozen dessert is all I can say. We purchased an extra entree for $24 white bait fritters These were big BUT used full egg resulting in it tasting exactly like and only like an egg omelette. Anyone who spends big $$ on tiny fish such as white bait should know the best way to make a white bait fritter is with egg white only to keep it light and not take away the star of the dish which is the tiny expensive fish.. wasabi mayo was a let down. Not near enough for two fritters and where was the wasabi? I mentioned the fritters were a let down upon paying and still got charged. During our meals not once did anyone ask how was the food. She could tell my by face we were unhappy as she took away unfinished mains and desserts but clearly reading the reviews they are not willing to ask if things are ok as they probably rather not know. Super let down as I always used to recomend and brag about your food. This was a waste of money and a disappointing night of what should have been happy celebration for myself and partner getting one chance in a long time to dine together with no children. I wish it was better as I praised your food so much and felt extremely embarrased to have such average bland under seasoned food for his special birthday.
Table chair seating inside and outdoors with a nice view looking out side at the beach and Rangitoto island. I went in and was greeted with a and menu for us to look through. Clean and tidy venue i liked the decor. There was 3 of us and all ordered the Annabelle big breakfast $28.00 Disappointed with the portion sizes 1 sausage 1 field mushroom 1 tomato Would be worth at least $20 for that breakfast. I ordered the Decaffeinated Mocha with oat milk my friends noticed no marshmallows with our hot drinks Other wise a good experience
We had a wonderful lunch- amazing spot, great food and terrific service. The waiters were so kind and accommodating including being very good about our rather large sheepdog : thanks so much
The breakfast I had was not good, to put it nicely. Felt like it was made by someone with no training. $21 for this? The avocado tasted very odd - some additive in it I think to make it go further, there was no plating or garnishing. My friends breakfast was a tiny serving and her coffee didn't arrive till after we had finished eating. The view was nice and the muffins okay too which we ordered straight after breakfast since the breakfast serving size left us hungry. I would only do drinks and muffins if I ever came back - definitely not breakfast/brunch.
a special occasion my flatmate took me out for lunch the menu everything on it looked lovely 1 waiter wasn't exactly happy beening at work the other one that brought our meals was lovely and had a smileFood: 4/5
Nice lamb rump and seafood chowder however I’m very disturbed that the prawn cutlets $3.50 each were straight from the supermarket freezer and out of the deep fryer, I expect a little better from a restaurant with such a good reputation. Will not be coming back unfortunately. James Ashwin
Went to this place for Breakfast on 5th March 2023, not the best breakfast and coffee we had. We had “Two Free Range Eggs poached or fried, with wholemeal seeded multi grain bread with grilled Tomato” & “Free Range Eggs Benedict with Cured Mt.Cook Salmon” poached eggs were fully cooked, not the poached eggs I was expecting. And the fried eggs tasted off. Coffee was if I was having milk, and was served slightly warm. But a good place to visit again.
