AMICI TRUST'S Junior Theatre NZ has been created to help develop, foster and promote Junior Theatre in New Zealand.
As part of the Amici Trust's mission to "foster excellence in the performing arts" Junior Theatre NZ (a subsidiary of the Amici Trust) is dedicated to the development of educational musical theatre for young people in New Zealand.
We are supported by iTheatrics (NY) and Music Theatre International - Australasia.
Our aims are to:
1) Enable schools and theatre companies to bring quality Junior Theatre to New Zealand.
2) To help enable good teaching practice in the arts throughout the country through the development of successful, cost-effective and sustainable musical theatre programs.
We believe that Musicals allow education in all of the four Arts disciplines as seen in the NZ Ministry of Education Arts Curriculum.
By developing character and walking in another persons shoes through acting, singing and dancing we not only introduce our children to the language of the Arts but to wider global experiences beyond the world in which they live!
iTheatrics' founder Tim McDonald described musical theatre as "the super-food of the arts" due to its multidisciplinary nature.
Through the creation of the world of the musical including sets, backdrops, costumes and props our children engage in the world of visual arts and design. With the use of digital technologies involving lighting, sound, and projection children are exposed to the digital arts.
Let the AMICI TRUST bring the power of junior theatre musicals to you!
