New owners have ruined what was once a good fish and chip shop, and turned it into a very less than average one. Old pre fried fish, undercooked chips no seasoning, doesn't pay attention to instructions, and overall incompetent. Avoid
Such a shame to see this place go down hill.nUnder the previous ownership, I would say it was one of the best in Christchurch, not so much now.nSo many things to comment on... firstly the shop used to be clean and tidy, now it's dirty with items stored in the customer area, chips right beside the money counter and boxes presumably food stored all over the floor.nSecondly they used to have smart uniforms and hair tied back, now scruffy jerseys and sex wax tops.nLast but not least the food, it is nowhere near the level of the previous people, we used to love the amazing burgers, light crispy batter, the beautiful fluffy chips cooked in fat and all the yummy house made items.nThis visit we ordered a cheese and bacon burger, a fish, meat patty, cheese patty, curry roll, hotdog and a scoop of chips.nThe batter was hard, almost chewy on the fish and very thin on the hotdog, the scoop was tiny for $5 and soggy, the cheese patty had no cheese and the meat patty had no meat, the whole thing had a funny smell/taste not sure if the oil old or something in the batter the burger is nothing close to the old ones, didn't even eat half of it.nSo disappointing to see such a good shop drop in quality, the only thing that saved it from a 1 star was the friendly service.
The order was wrong, fish is undercooked and the gurnard certainly did not seem like gurnard tasteless and horrible looking. One scoop of chips would feed a toddler. Blue cod fish was nice despite the batter being soggy.
Recently changed ownership, was an easy 5 stars but now i think they have gone away from beef fat and fresh fries. Prices are the same but quality halved and alot of missing items on the menu...
I ordered a paua pattie and not sure what was in it as it didn't even represent paua at all. Was a green mush pattie that was unbeatable. Can't say much for the cheese and onion pattie either as it was mainly cubed potatoes. Half a scoop didn't go anywhere.nWon't be stopping there again
