This is not a fine dining place, but rather a very useful stop for some meal and for buying the things that you are missing while traveling through New Zealand. This place has it all - clothes, sunglasses, car chargers, cosmetics... And what's the best, you don't pay too much for it. Actually, this is one of the cheapest shops with the supplies for travelers that I have visited at New Zealand. Besides practical things that you need, you can also buy some presents here. Offer of the restaurant consists mostly from sandwiches and cold meals, but the place also has some hot dishes and pizzas to choose from. The ordering happens at the cash desk.
Good soup of the day. Rest of the dishes were mainly fried and not too tasty but good enough for a cold and windy day.Food: 3/5
I had a really great time here due to the alpacas next door! The food was ok though. I got the hotdog and chips since everything else seemed overpriced which was ok I was surprised to get a fried sausage instead of a hotdog in a bun though, but maybe this is an NZ thing?. I also got a flat white which was ok. The real highlight was feeding the alpacas next door. The cafe doesn’t really advertise it but the neighbouring fences have signs about alpaca food and you can ask the cashier to buy some. The alpacas were on the far side of the field but I shook the bag of food and they came running over! I spent $2 on alpaca food and though it was a great deal for the experience!
Nice little stop on the way to and from Milford sound. Can pet alpacas!!
A big thank you to the Alpine centre cafe for returning my belongings intact. I stopped here in the morning, exhausted from the journey, and accidentally left my bag with passports, money, and valuables. An hour after leaving the cafe, I realized my mistake. Upon calling them, they immediately informed me that they found my things. Everything is in its place. Thank you for your honesty and kindness. I'm so relieved my belongings were found. Thank you.
A pit stop for most people travelling between Milford Sound and Queestown/Invercargill. Decent coffee and the Cajun Chicken Sandwich was good after heating up. Friendly staff and spacious seating. There are lots of souvenirs sold here too hence many tour buses stop here for toilet breaks.Food: 5/5
Nice selection of food. Meat pies, pizza, salads, sandwiches and more.Food: 5/5
ATTENTION CAMPERS!.... COLD shower works without the need for 4x $2 coins! Nothing wrong with paying for the hot, you get 12 mins I think..but had I known, I'd have settled for a nice brisk cold one on this particular day. A good service station that's well stocked. HOWEVER, really no Rubbish Bins to be found, so clearing out the camper, I had to find the big metal one out the back. Fuel is reasonably priced though, so a good spot to top-up!
Stopped here twice, once just for a takeaway coffee. Second time I stopped in for food and coffee. Service isn't great but not bad. Food was nice toasted sandwich and egg n bacon muffin easier location to stop if you're just passing through or want food abit quicker that trying to find a park and wait in que in town.Food: 3/5
Lovely to see a Korean speaking cashier here! Had much fun feeding food for the cute alpacas despite that they successfully avoided my attempts to pet them during the feeding timeFood: 5/5
