This is a beautiful Cemetery surrounded by nature no road noise unless there's a service going on and there young. Otherwise very still and quiet. The grounds are kept beautiful.
If you have to move onward, this place is well looked after and maintained to a high standard.
A sad occasion as a funeral of a friend. So pleased to see the Cemetery is still looking neat and tidy even after Mr . Whiteman's enforced retirement.
Thank you so much to all who love and care for our families here at Akatarawa Cemetary. I have been visiting my whanau since 1971 when my grandmother passed and I was all of 8 years old, my Aunty passed a little later and then my mother also passing in 2018 and who are all buried at Akatarawa Cemetary. I am so thankful for your time and care you all put in to keeping our whanau beautiful, blessings to you all
Although this is a Cemetery, it is really well set out and beautifully cared for. There is a Crematorium on site here with a Chapel as well. Toilets on site. The Cemetery is being upgraded and expanded. It gets very windy up there as it is in the open . I suggest you take warm clothing even in summer .
