Gravedigger was awful. Came and savagely took green mats away before the mourners had time to finish using the little trowel to throw dirt into the grave and coffin. Really appalling behavior to snatch the trowel out of a 3 year old boys hands at such a time. The gravedigger should be dismissed. This was afternoon of 26 August when we buried our loved one.
If you have to move onward, this place is well looked after and maintained to a high standard.
This is a beautiful Cemetery surrounded by nature no road noise unless there's a service going on and there young. Otherwise very still and quiet. The grounds are kept beautiful.
Thank you so much to all who love and care for our families here at Akatarawa Cemetary. I have been visiting my whanau since 1971 when my grandmother passed and I was all of 8 years old, my Aunty passed a little later and then my mother also passing in 2018 and who are all buried at Akatarawa Cemetary. I am so thankful for your time and care you all put in to keeping our whanau beautiful, blessings to you all
I would have NEVER thought I'd ever leave a review on a cemetery however the staff, care and respect for our passed ones are surely in good hands at Akatarawa Cemetery. The grounds are clean and well maintained and the staff make you feel as comfortable as possible during such a hard and grieving stage. I highly recommend Akatarawa as their grounds, staff and service are second to none.
