Aganu’u Fa’asāmoa 101 (AF101) is a Sāmoan cultural identity programme, delivered by not-for-profit New Zealand based Epiphany Pacific Trust.
Specifically designed for Sāmoans born/raised away from the rich cultural surroundings of Sāmoa, ninety percent of the programme is taught in English, providing a unique opportunity for Participants to connect with Sāmoan traditions and cultural practices in a contemporary and supportive environment.
Since 20014, the Auckland based tutor Tanoa’i Tai’i Lofipo Reupena Michael Tanoa’i, have connected with thousands of Sāmoans young and old across New Zealand, Australia, Sāmoa and the United States of America.
For those wishing to invite the AF101 team to deliver a programme in your community, you do need to be aware that the team is New Zealand based and would require support with travel and hosting. • The programme is held over 7 consecutive days and maximum class participants permitted in a programme is 60
• All participants must register to attend, information on the process for registration can be found on the AF101 Facebook Events page
• All efforts are made to ensure the cost of registration is accessible to the community, however as overseas programmes are self-funded the cost may vary, depending on the host/community. If you wish to invite the AF101 team to your community, you do need to be aware that the team is New Zealand based and would require hosting. • The recommended age to participate in this programme is 15 years plus. We have had younger participants register, but with a registered parent and only after discussion with the AF101 team
• Knowing the Sāmoan language is always helpful, but not essential in taking this beginners programme as 90% of the programme is taught in English. We have had many non-Sāmoans successfully complete the programme
• Spectators are not permitted in the Vasega

--IMPORTANT NOTE FOR AUCKLAND STUDENTS--
Previously, some of the Auckland public programmes were free for students to register, however from July 2017 there will now be a non-refundable registration fee of $20. Auckland classes are now held over 7 consecutive days.
