Story

Located in the heart of Oamaru's Victorian Precinct, Adventure Books opened officially during the Victorian Fete of November 2012. Prior to this, Adventure Books was all set to open in Christchurch, when three weeks away from opening the Christchurch earthquake destroyed the store in Ferrymead. We do not as yet have an online presence but welcome any enquiries.

This somewhat quirky bookshop is moving to Christchurch and is to be now found in the Christchurch Arts centre. This is happen g now and will complete during November 2020. So it's no longer open as a bookshop in Oamaru. Apparently the online operation is still functioning.
Love this place! Soooo many cool books specializing in adventure and exploration and "intrepid women" too! The owner has many fascinating stories to tell. Has some very good NZ literature as well and comfy couches!

A complete bookstore specializing in adventure. Their polar section was the most amazing I've ever seen. And also had a full scale copy of the James Caird.
