You have to stay here! It was such an incredible place. We stayed for 4 nights in an ocean view villa. The villa was lovely and very functional kitchen well equipped, the view is gorgeous and the villas are private. The grounds are charming and the family that runs Adrift are great. Couldn't recommend a stay here highly enough. Was a highlight of our trip. Thanks so much!
Adrift in Golden Bay is a very rare and priceless combination of luxury accommodation, NZ wilderness and amazing beaches. The family owned and operated business is the exact description of heaven on earth. Only five self contained villas spread over one hectare of landscaped native gardens by the sea. You can see and feel the owners’ professioanalism, attention for details as well as their kind nature and approach in everything. You can find here everything you need: a fully equipped kitchen, a professional BBQ, folding deck chairs to be taken to the beach along with the beach towels, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, a fresh water outdoor shower and even a tiny herb garden for your dinner salad. The villas are immaculate and well maintained, all have spa baths and luxury amenities. But the real luxury is not that. The New Zealand style luxury is the serene, peaceful and private space you get enjoy in the middle of nature. Except for the waves, the wind and the birds, there is no other sound, maybe the occasional lawn mower as the section is beautifully maintained and manicured. We thoroughly recomment this slice of heaven.
Everything was absolutely great Thanks to Emily and her family, very nice people and what a wonderful property right next to the beautiful and peaceful golden sand beach. Hard to leave and can't wait to come back. Rooms: Comfortable, spotlessly clean, very tastefully designed. Nearby activities: Lots of beautiful natural and outdoor activities. Safety: Very very safe.
It's remote and quiet. Perfect to get away from people. We have a beautiful beach villa which is totally private and our own entrance to the beach. Breakfast is delivered the evening before and is excellent. The property is beautifully maintained. Kitchen is fully stocked no oven though. Internet speed is very good. There's hardly anyone on the beach so our peace and quiet sitting on the private back deck is uninterrupted. Love it here!
This place is perfect. Between the private beach, the friendly hosts, scrumptious breakfasts, and the lovely accommodations, we didn't want to leave. Stargazing is easy at night since there isn't much light pollution, and there truly is a sense of privacy and comfort in your villa. We are certainly coming back. More info: Takaka, about 15-20 min away, is the best place for dinner or groceries. To the north is the farewell spit and other breathtaking beaches. Highly recommended for couples seeking a quiet retreat or good beach adventures.
What an absolutely stunning place to spend time. Hosts are amazing, the accommodation is incredibly. You can hear and see the sea. Very well maintained. Highly recommended.
A beautiful, quiet, perfectly relaxing place to stay. Right next to the beach at Parapara, yet only a 15 minute drive from Takaka and only a couple of minutes up the road from the famous Mussel Inn. Adrift is small, which means that you get a personal attention to detail. Our cottage was magically cleaned when we went out for a walk, as opposed to a schedule in larger establishments. Currently relaxing, and an amazing place to stay
Absolut great stay. We had a gorgeous Beachfront Cottage. The view is fantastic and you have a really private atmosphere. The owners, Bess & Gordon, they have buildt a peaceful place and you can feel their passion for that place. Its worth every single dollar. We'll come back asap. Thanks for the good time!
