Training at A.C.E. is based on positive reinforcement techniques as these really work! We offer small family friendly classes, one-on-one training sessions and in-home training. We can help with basic dog training through to fixing problem behaviour.
Our classes are age specific designed to meet the real life needs of your family pet dog and encourage the whole household to become involved.Children are welcome.
As well as private consutations on common behaviour issues and providing one-on-one training we have a range of group classes tailored to specific groups. These include:
PUPPY PRESCHOOL – for puppies aged 8 to 14 weeks. These give your new puppy the best start. Learn about early socialisation, basic training techniques and managing the developmental stages your puppy is going through. Puppies don’t need to be fully vaccinated as we use a secure disinfected area, but they must have started their course of vaccinations.
PUPPY PRIMER – for puppies aged 4 to 6 months. Put your puppy on the right foot learning the essentials of early manners, developing leadership and safe interaction with people and other puppies. This is a critical period in any dog's life so you owe it to them to offer the best beginning you can. Puppy Primer incorporates training theory, positive socialisation exercises and practical techniques for loose lead walking, settling on cue, handling and coming when called - all essential skills for the growing puppy during its early experiences with the wider world.
TEEN TRAINING – for dogs aged 6 to 11 months. Whether you are just beginning formal training classes or ready to move onto bigger challenges with your adolescent dog then the Teen Training class is ideal to keep your family pet on the right track. This class focuses on more active exercises rather than the inter-dog socialising in puppy class. Gaining better self-control under distractions, building a reliable off lead recall and improving meeting and greeting manners with visitors are just a few of the key skills that teenage dogs should learn to become more easily involved into family life.
ADULT ABCs – for dogs aged over 11 months old who have not had any formal training. It is never too late to start and for many older dogs mastering the basics while around other dogs is a valuable skill.
ADVANCED COMPANION - For the dog and family with some skills already happening or who have been to our earlier classes andare now looking for greater challenges. Get the basics solid, even under distraction and then build sequences of skills together - like going to a place to lie down, dropping at a distance, manners at the door to have a well-adjusted well-mannered pet.
Advanced Companion is recognised by the Wellington City Council and can help fasttrack a discount on annual registration fee through the Special Owner Policy application process.
SPECIALITY CLASSES – three week block courses on: Reliable Recalls, Tricks Training, Growl Classes and Agility Skills are also available.
