For $180 per night you don't get a view, our view was a tin roof of sorts, car park, rubbish bins & laundry from a black deck that needs a water blast. The room has no wardrobe or draws, a shower curtain and mouldy shower, very outdated, even the face clothes were old!! Pool extremely cold. Reading other reviews please don't ask me back after renovations, it would have been good to have your honesty in the first place. Disappointing visit.nThank you for your reply. Your website advertises a standard room Not Budget!, no water view. We were under no illusion we knew that was the case but did not expect the poor 'view' as I mentioned above. There was not a wardrobe it was a cupboard with ironing board and blanket, I had to ask for hangers, i was generously given 2 from another room, shirts would not fit in there. The sealant around the outside of the shower is brown with age and mould, i have photos to put on FB. We sat around the pool yesterday afternoon not evening it was hot mid/high 20s, the pool was cold. Had you offered a better room as there was a number vacant we would have happily paid more. Good luck with your renovations
We loved staying at the Acacia Lodge Motel. An absolutely idyllic spot, friendly on-site owner/manager who was very obliging. Very tidy rooms. Amazing heated pool, which is well looked after. Surrounded by historic heritage trail stops, and a hop and a skip to the amazing fish and chip shop. Highly recommend as an awesome base for exploring the far north.
What a beautiful place to stay!nnWe had only one night here and although it was pricey it was beautiful!nnThe pool was great and my son had a blast, it was super convenient to be able to watch him in the pool from our room, and to be right on the waterfront made for a stunning view. The building is older and so the floors/walls are thin, when people upstairs moved around it sounded as if someone was in our room! Ear plugs might be useful for light sleepers.nnThe staff were super friendly and helpful and the location excellent, only 10 minute walk to all the shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay again and probably ask for a room on the top floor!nnMangōnui was lovely and we hope to visit again soon.
Awesome is all I can say about the motel and the owners and staff. On arrival we were warmly greeted and were upgraded to a fantastic room. My wife and I stayed for two days and we both wished we could have stayed longer! If we ever have to travel to Northland again, this will definitely be our go to place!
The location is superb. Walkable to Mangonui & very pretty views. Management great, very friendly & helpful. That being said the complex is very dated & it is actually grubby with blood stains in the bathroom & a toilet seat 10 years overdue for replacement. Limited accommodation in the area means the price is high. Someone needs to get into this place with disinfectant because it's actually very appealing. Sorry John you were brilliant!
