Best Chinese dining ive had in nz in a while.nService was very good as well..nFood came hot, despite it being quite busy.nDefinitely will return.
I wouldn’t recommend this place as dining requires reservations. We were given a dining timing slot since we did not have a reservation, which was understandable and perfectly fine.nnParking was also quite inconvenient as it required climbing up a steep hill, which may not be ideal for everyone.nnHowever, the description of the wanton soup on the menu was quite misleading as there was no mention that it came with noodles. As a result, we ordered two bowls instead of one. What I do not understand is why the waitress did not inform us while taking our order, which could have avoided unnecessary ordering and food wastage.
Not much parking directly, but surrounding streets have ample.nFriendly welcome. Warm service. Lots of tables, large and small to fit any size party.nGreat menu with authentic options. Great prices, especially on the smaller snack dishes.nDelicious food!! Loved the flavours and I was able to taste chicken feet for the first time. Loved it!!!
Staff were friendly, treated us well and were fun to talk with. The place was busy and it had an easy ambiance - comfortable chairs, good lighting and generally upbeat place to sit and sip tea while we waited for our food.nnThe chicken feet and the spring onion pancakes were both excellentnnWe also ordered the beef in chilli oil #39. Based on the name, we were expecting a classic Sichuan style mala dish with plenty of salt, dried chilli, and numbing peppercorns. Instead, it was much fresher and more delicate, with light seasoning, chewy mushrooms and no noticeable mala. It was still delicious and clearly well made, just quite different from what some diners might expect when ordering a traditionally Sichuan dish.nnOverall, the food was balanced, flavourful, and thoughtfully prepared. We'd happily come back and try more of the menu
The food was lovely, but I have to say the service left a lot to be desired. Has anyone else experienced this? We popped in for lunch and after that particular waiter checked our starter order, he actually had a whinge in his own language with the waitress right in front of us about us ordering too little.nThen, when we politely asked to keep the menu on the table just in case we wanted to add anything later, he refused to let us keep it. Such an awkward, unpleasant experience and quite frankly, zero emotional intelligence or common sense when it comes to dealing with customers. Surely we aren't the only ones who've been treated like this?
