The food was yummy, though the salad bowl was huge. The staff were nice and the milkshakes were good. It's weird though that there's no theme or atmosphere... But it was quiet and nice.
Terrible experience. Owner is aggressive, scary and physically abusive. We have been here a few times and it has been nice today when we went in we ordered afternoon tea. My mum ordered "banana bread with cinnamon butter" with her coffee and it came with plain margarine, she asked if they had any butter or cinnamon butter as ordered, because she doesn't eat margarine. The owner then tried to prove it was butter by shoving the packaging at her, it was margarine canola oil and she said never mind I will just have it without. He then came to our table where we were with my daughter and started screaming at my mum and then repeatedly threw the glass dish until it smashed apart of margarine at her yelling over and over about it. Mum said "its ok, I'm sorry if I seemed rude, its ok. when he finally stopped yelling and throwing glass dishes towards her/us while flapping his arms around in aggression he stormed off and punched the wall. We won't be back and will be reporting this further, we left immediately. This is not a safe place to go.
It's my second time went to this coffee shop as I live locally and I noticed they changed their coffee. My first visit was not really impressed how my coffee looked and how amateur the owner was in making specialty coffee using Campos beans tasted bitter because he didn't grind it properly. I am confident to write like this as I was working with Campos as their barista, so I understand how different they were in comparison. My second visit was shocking as I brought my baby with me and I was just chilling out and I wanted tried their new coffee as I have faith that they may improve their coffee better. I sat down at the table which is enough for two people with 2 m apart with another people, I didn't know whether the wait staff noticed I was there. Some other people came in after me and they had been serviced first and I waited more than 5 mins, he came over and took my order. After couple minutes, the wait staff came back and I asked me to move to other benches saying that they tried to allocate table, believe me, it wasn't many people when I came and there were still lots available table surrounding. I just asked nicely to the wait staff "Can't I just sit at this corner?" as I didn't want baby struggling to sleep because of bright sunlight. The wait staff didn't response and suddenly left after asking question and I saw him approaching the owner and with rage came to my table and without asking the reason, the "kid" owner screamed "Can't you just respect what we were saying. it's written just for breakfast only." Honestly, I didn't see anything like that written on the board said breakfast only and I can't sit on the table because I just ordered a coffee. I don't know how to respect this as the owner didn't respect me as a customer. I just didn't want to have a fight because it was early in the morning and then I walked away. I never like to raise a complaint, but my recent experience was awful. The owner didn't know how to serve and giving their best service to customer. The place is not worth for people to spend in and don't waste your time to walk to the corner, it's better to spend your precious money at brew bar or cherry beans or coffee club as they made better coffee.
Nice cafe, has trendy vibe. Close to transport and street parking. Wide selection of food items. Good proximity to shopping. Toilets are clean and well kept but in the Shopping centre. #coddiewiimpleicp
Greeted upon arrival, staff friendly, food came quickly and this garlic and chilli prawn pasta is probably the best I've ever had. Just bursting with flavour and a generous portion size. Amazing! Ambient music was up way too loud so if it's this way all day you might struggle with a conversation, I was too busy eating to care that much.
Had brunch here on a weekend. The place wasn't overly busy unlike other places with no available tables but was told the kitchen was busy. We ordered anyway and was served with our drinks first which was good. Waited at least 40-45mins for our food to be served. The food was a big disappointment though...the poach eggs were medium boiled eggs instead. The toast was an ordinary white bread instead of sourdough as indicated on the menu. It must have been toasted for sometime already and left to sit on the plate as it was cold and was not even crunchy. To make matters worse, the last plate of food we ordered wasn't served on time. I had to follow it up only to be told it was just being cooked as the first one burnt! At this point we were not happy to wait any longer. At least they refunded me for the unserved plate.
I’ve been going to this cafe for a long time. Often for breakfast or coffee and cake. Today a friend and I arrived and were informed we had to have a meal if we were going to order and dine in. I ordered a large coffee for us both, I was ordering food for me first and informed that what I had chosen was not a meal. A large bowl of chips was what I wanted, apparently it wasn’t enough. My friend hadn’t ordered yet. To be honest I was pretty disgusted with the whole situation. The place was nearly empty, there were many tables empty and they weren’t busy. If they were busy, I may have understood a bit more, but they weren’t. I was pretty much asked to order a large meal or leave. I decided to take my business elsewhere to someone would appreciate my support of a local business. After a long time of supporting this business I will not go back and neither will my friend. Silly, silly business choice on behalf of the manager. They will lose loyal customers this way.
Went to order coffee for the family after being seated, and the man who served me was so rude because we didn't realise we had to order food as well. He kept pointing to the front as in I could read the sign. They definitely need to learn customer serve and some manners in general. We were happy to take our business else where and enjoy the wonderful service that Brewbar provide.
Food is okay and has a very quiet location, much quieter than the Foodcourt, this was what drew me to the place initially. Have eaten there quite happily on a number of occasions... until this morning. I arrived at 9 to meet a friend. I was quickly asked whether I was eating breakfast. I said I was going to get a drink and a snack. I was very clearly told I wasn't going to be welcome as between 9 and 11 only breakfast was being served. There was one couple sitting in there eating. All the other tables were empty. I left and waited for my friend. When she arrived I explained the eating situation. She said she would have breakfast. So we went in, I placed my order of a frappe and a slice. He quickly and loudly told me he had already explained they were only serving breakfast. I said my friend's having breakfast. He said to me I don't know why you're getting angry we were not angry, we were too shocked to be angry. We were trying to explain to him "but one of us is eating breakfast". He was standing his ground and getting louder. We just left, we didn't want to make a scene, but he didn't seem to mind making a scene. We were both in shock, nobody should be treated that way. They hardly had any customers. Needless to say they lost 2 repeat customers this morning, neither of us will go back there again. He displayed very poor business and customer skills. We went down to the Brew Bar, had a lovely snack and breakfast. They were brimming with customers and we were made to feel very welcome. It was a bit noisier, but I would rather put up with a bit more noise than be treated like rubbish. You catch more flies with honey.
My daughter and I like to come here as its often quiet and she loves their milkshakes. Today we came by at 1pm and there was lots of tables free which is great. The waitress asked us what we wanted and we said we were here for a milkshake coffee and some raisin toast. We were turned away told that we can get a takeaway coffee but can't sit unless we are ordering lunch. It seems odd that a business would turn away money given how quiet it was, I could see 3 staff and surely it would be costing more to pay them then the money being made from the half a dozen customers seated. Id like to think the owner operator is unaware this is going on as we've always been warmly welcomed at 5 Senses Cafe no matter what time of day, as there's always plenty of room and the service is always great. Not today though. A bit disappointing. :-
