Really bad experience here. By far the worst chefs hat restaurant I have been to. To start with it was walk in only and an hours wait, they told us 45 minutes and they will call but we walked in after an hour passed and there was a seat there for us. The place smelled bad, the walls were dirty (not hipster dirty, actually dirty and uncleaned) the lighting was very dim and they were pumping repetitive music very loudly. Since it had a chefs hat, I assumed that when the food arrived it would be divine since the atmosphere and service were mediocre at best. To my surprise the food was horrible - my girlfriend's pasta was a very small portion and unbelievably boring, she did not finish it and she is a big lover of italian food. My veal was breaded, fried or seared in a lot of oil, and served plain on a plate with no side or sauce - which is fine for normal, tender delicious veal, but the unappetizing non-tender chicken-schnitzel style veal could have at least been dressed up with some sauce or a side. It was worse than a chicken schnitzel from a pub. One last thing - my girlfriend asked for a Riesling without specifying which one, which always results in you just getting a cheap or house Riesling. They gave her the most expensive one on the board and we only found out when the bill came, that was the most minor issue and wouldn't have been noticeable if the food was good, but it struck me as dishonest. They also rushed the food so fast there was no way it was cooked fresh - we were seated at 7:27 and left at 7:46, that included waiting for a waiter and paying the bill! It was out in mere minutes after ordering. Honestly much worse than any normal restaurant I have been to in many years, let alone a chefs hat restaurant.

Food - minimal options and expect small portions and wine -good selection. A nice space but the ambient atmosphere was too loud for any "normal" level conversation. Definitely on the side of more $$$. There are other venues who offer similar experience for far less. The staff are attentative and friendly and do seem to know what they're talking about.

We were fooled by great reviews and the fact that this establishment has 1 Chefs Hat, the most disappointing and underwhelming restaurant experience in my adult life. The place stank of cheese, and not in a good way, trust me. The ambiance and dungy atmosphere were unpleasant, and dirty walls and cheap tables ( not in a "newtown" way either) were a turn off. But we thought the food would be divine and all worth it. WRONG. You have to be pretty savage to destroy an Italian pasta like that! First sized, dry, flavorless ( apart from tonne of salt) pieces of pasta were a let down. Another thing that set off warning bells - how fats the food arrived! No way it takes 5 minutes to make pasta and a veal.... When I come to a restaurant with a reputation I expect my food to be cooked fresh, not a pub microwave meal.

Our favourite Italian restaurant. Pastas are unbeatable and their pretzel... OMG. Must try! One of the best dishes in Sydney!

Love the atmosphere of this little wine bar, can be quite noisy and wait for a table can be quite long but worth it. Go early or during the week, otherwise be prepared to go to a pub nearby and wait for a table. The food and service were excellent.
